Out of the box (or bag) it was not recognized by Windows 7. Worse, the included disk did not work (appeared to be for an entirely different vendors part).
Doing some decoding of the device type and some quick searching, I was able to find a driver that mostly worked. The manufacturer of this part does NOT sell cables, so they don't have driver support on their page. Since the cable is generic and does not have a named vendor, I could not even track down the cable manufacturers site. AND the driver I found ended up being in Chinese, so I had to have windows do the searching to get this part working (i.e. could not install any of the utilities which would have come with it).
Once I got the driver magic done, the part appears to work fine.
I will not buy another one of these. I'd happily pay $20 for a converter which had driver support, or--even better--was recognized by Windows on the first plug-in.
Do not buy this unless you are willing to do a fair amount of figuring/hunting on your own!
