(More customer reviews)I was able to get a T-mobile SIM with a data plan to try this. It installed without any problems and connected OK with 3G at 7.2Mb but T-mobile now has 4G using HSPA+ to connect at 21Mbps but this unit doesn't run nearly that fast. Running a speed test gave me only about 3Mb down and 1.2Mb up, nowhere near the 7.2Mb advertised. However, that's much better speed than what's available from anyone else since Virgin Mobile and Cricket wireless have both slowed down to 56k dialup speeds in this area. I was really happy with it for a while but it only worked for about 1/2 hour before T-Mobile disconnected me then cut the speed to 60kbps so it was worthless for the rest of the day. You only get about 30Mb per day with the T-mobile "Unlimited Daypass" costing $1.49/day. They have plans with more data but they are insanely expensive at $50 a month for just 1Gb.
Also, besides the slow speed and lack of affordable data plans I'm only giving it 1 star because the USB plug is completely missing one side which makes it a bit difficult to plug in without breaking your laptop and it doesn't seem very sturdy.
